Private Vs Public Hospitals for Baby Delivery

When pregnant, you may be considering the options for when you give birth. The first thing to consider is where you would like to give birth, be it at a private or public hospital.

Public hospitals are typically chosen due to how affordable they are compared to public hospitals. Furthermore, they are largely subsidized by the government. Another reason public hospitals are chosen are due to the fact they tend to be better equipped to deal with any complications during birth.
 
However, public hospitals have longer waiting times, limited visitation hours and less comfortable amenities. Furthermore, public hospitals do not help process insurance claims and this must be done by the patient and their family.
 
Private hospital
For those who prioritize luxury and comfort, private hospitals are the way to go. With shorter waiting and administration times and a more streamline billing process. Luxurious waiting areas, and perks such as head massages, and reserved parking spots. And surprisingly, the difference in cost between public and private delivery is not as significant as one would expect, and with a sufficient insurance plan, the additional costs will likely not be a problem.
 
Private deliveries may seem to be the obvious option, but there are some disadvantages as well. Firstly, private deliveries are led by obstetrics and gynecology, and have lower midwife support. Secondly, they are not trained to deal with difficult births and medical emergencies, in which case you will be transferred to better equipped hospitals for medical assistance. Finally, if you do not have health insurance, the cost of private hospitals can be very severe.
