Top worries of new parents

Caring for a baby can be a challenge, doubly so if it is your first time. However, worry not, for we are here to help. We have compiled a list of common worries and their solutions to better help you through your journey as a new parent.

Concern 1: How often do I change my baby’s diaper?
You will need to frequently change your baby’s diaper in order to prevent diaper rashes, however, you do not need to do it every time your baby pee. It is recommended to do so once every 2 to 3 hours, with the only exception being when your baby has a bowel movement. It is also important to keep your baby clean and dry when you change their diapers as they have sensitive skin.

Concern 2: Why is my baby crying so much?
Babies tend to cry a lot, and for many different reasons. Knowing why your baby is crying is the first step to helping them stop. Reasons for your baby cry includes:

  • Gas pains
    • Try burping your baby.
  • Loneliness
    • Spend more time with your baby
    • Try wearing your baby around with a harness
  • Hunger
    • Pay more attention to your baby, your baby will most likely have certain patterns when they are hungry, understanding them will be very useful.
  • Dirty diapers
    • This are usually very obvious, and easy to fix, just change your baby’s diapers and they should stop crying
  • Tiredness
    • Ensure your baby gets plenty of sleep and are given a comfortable environment where they are able to fall asleep easily.

Concern 3: How do I know if my baby is eating enough?
More often than not, new parents will be worried that their babies aren’t eating enough and that their growth is getting impacted. The most reliable way to make sure your baby is eating enough is to ensure they’re growing properly. Your doctor will usually go through this during your baby’s check-ups.

Concern 4: When will my baby start sleeping the whole night?
Babies aren’t typically ready to sleep through the night until around 12-14 weeks old. However, even if your baby isn’t ready to get a full night’s rest by then it is not too serious of a concern as every baby develops differently and some can take as much as 5 months before they are ready. If you are still worried about your baby not sleeping through the night, you can take them to a paediatrician to get your baby checked.

  • What to bulk purchase for your baby?

Buying baby supplies in bulk is a good idea to save money, especially when you need to spend a lot on your baby. However, not all products can be purchased in bulk, in this guide we will be teaching you what you can and cannot bulk buy.Diapers:One of the products you should not be purchasing in bulk. This is because your baby can easily be too big for them or may end up outgrowing them. At the speed your baby grows, they will probably outgrow them in months, which end up causing you to have a bunch of wasted product you have no use for. Baby Wipes:One of the best products to bulk buy, with how much you will need to use it, the cost for baby wipes adds up quickly. Due to how often your baby end up making messes, you will be needing to clean up after them very often, and this will most likely be your go to choice when doing so. Baby Formula:When bulk purchasing baby formula, remember to get a sample first to ensure your baby likes it before you buy. And when purchasing, buy only the amount you need and only the right stages for your baby’s growth. Laundry Detergent:Detergent is something you can easily bulk buy, as you will need this when washing all of your baby’s clothes when they get messy. With the amount of clothes, you need to clean, the costs will also add up significantly. Furthermore, the detergent can also be used to clean other family member’s clothes, so there will definitely no waste. Shampoo:The only difference between baby shampoo and normal shampoo is the fact there are less chemicals in baby shampoo that can irritate your baby’s eyes. The only advantage of normal shampoo is the fact they smell and lather better. As such, you can easily continue to use baby shampoo to clean your baby’s hair. Baby food:At around 6 months old, you can begin transitioning to solid baby food for your baby. Starting off with smoother baby food, and move on to chunky ones at 8 to 10 months old. Taking note of how much baby food your baby eats and which type they eat, you can easily plan and bulk purchase for them. However, like milk formula, I suggest trying small samples with your baby before bulk buying what’s best suited for your child.
